If you are going out for supper or lunch and you fail to take children’s supplies with you, then prepare for an OUTBURST!! By supplies, I’m talking about colouring pencils, paper, colouring book, cars (in our case at least 5!) etc.
We’ve learnt (having experienced some stroppy occasions) that you’re better off being prepared with ‘keeping busy’ tools than without. Sometimes it’s worth having a couple of emergency snacks up your sleeve too. There’s nothing worse than a bored and hungry child!
We had a great lunch today with friends and harry and I packed his small rucksack with some essentials- which went down a treat.
The children sat comfortably and happy, drawing and colouring to their hearts content until their lunch arrived to the table- with not a sound of “when is our food ready?”. And more importantly we had some adult conversation uninterrupted!
Yes, most of us have app’s on our phones these days, whether educational or for fun, but personally I would rather avoid harry getting ‘square eyes’ (…that’s what we tell him) and being antisocial as much as possible.
Besides, why wouldn’t we want our children to expand their creative talents at any given time?
Remember that bag of goodies next time you’re planning on venturing out of the house, to avoid any confrontation or clash with your littles 😉
