There’s a fabulous lady called Kirsten Rickert who’s blog and instagram I follow, and I was totally inspired by her stick loom weaving.
She’s pretty meticulous with everything she puts her hand to and appears to create such beautiful things all of the time. Her woven sticks are very neat and precise. Mine on the other hand are a work in progress!
I found 3 ‘forked’ sticks to use and thought that rather than thread or wool, that I would use some ribbon scraps that I have in my ribbon tin!
Once the children were in bed and I’d done the last minute clearing away of things (mainly washing up/ putting away baby toys/ emptying the bath etc), I sat down to begin.
Evening’s are usually my ‘me time’ and 95% of the time it’s when I do something creative and this time it was stick loom weaving. My husband thinks I’m bonkers because he’s always trying to watch a TV programme or movie and all he can hear is me beavering around the house; cutting, sticking, sewing, weaving, painting, drawing, you name it, I’m probably doing it!!
I think these are pretty effective. I’m keen to collect some more sticks to make a few neater examples using thread and wool much like Kirsten’s.
