In the afternoon, we had 6 little children over for a Valentine’s Day tea party which turned out to be a huge success. My most helpful and useful tool of the day was most definitely my heart shaped cookie cutters.
We had a yummy spread of homemade cupcakes topped with mounds of buttercream and delightful sweet treats and sprinkles.
Fondant fancies, fruit a plenty, mini sandwiches and some scrummy heart shaped pastry jam tarts on sticks! For the adults; a mezze spread of antipasti did just the trick.
The first activity was to make a card each, by using their hands as templates to draw around. They loved this, especially when they realised when it opened out, it created a love heart. The second activity was to decorate small jars to be used as tea light holders.
Adorned with some tissue paper hearts that I had pre-cut already for them. Each child had a paintbrush for their pva glue to be smothered on their jar, and everyone’s tea light holder came out very uniquely. These were such a hit, and so effective!
Our Valentine’s Eve was spent at our local Côte restaurant where we had a lovely family night out, just us 4, and a night stroll home to ignite the candles 😉
