Ever been intrigued to see what your favourite Inflencers have in their wardrobes? Want to know where they like to shop, what their favourite items are and discover their most treasured accessories? This new Series of mine lets us discover the truth behind the style, the old clobber among the new and reveal the stories within the wardrobe.

Wednesday’s Wardrobe Presents….

WHO?Lulu @sleeplessinkensal

TELL US ABOUT YOU? I’m a full time mummy to an almost 2yr old. Would describe myself as creative, chaotic and busy minded at the best of times!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? My style when it comes to fashion is completely driven by mood and not ‘what’s out there!’ I’m a mix match old New bush bash bosh kind of girl. Some days it’s all colours and patterns and others I’m all about the grey tones!
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU? My mood and the weather!!!

DESCRIBE THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR WARDROBE! I’ve not actually used a wardrobe for as long as I can remember – I have two drawers which are currently stuffed to the brim with all garments. No order no organisation unlike my husband who uses drawers for neatly folded items and a wardrobe to avoid creasing.

Recent purchases from Thailand

Lulu’s chest of draws full to the brim!
Lulu’s chest of draws full to the brim!

WHAT’S YOUR MOST RECENT FASHION PURCHASE? I’ve recently returned from Thailand with a bag full of bright coloured sarongs that double up as my new favourite ‘London scarves’…. my current style is hippy hits acid – patterns and colours that pop!!!

IS THERE A TREND YOU’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW? I love mixing things up so not really. Probably COLOUR!

OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO PART WITH? I have a long pink pleated skirt that I’ve had for 10yrs and honestly I still happily wear that bad boy in every season.

ANY FASHION FAILS YOU’VE MADE? I’ve had many but only from other people’s judgement- I’m pretty much happy with looking back at old photos and thinking ‘yeah that’s me!’

876AF701-328B-46FF-8B09-B4CB4F623778
My old time favourite item is this Turquoise Kimono Cardigan which my sister borrowed and has lost

IS THERE A PARTICULAR COLOUR YOU’RE DRAWN TO? Drawn to turquoise as it reminds me of the bluest most calm oceans of Asia

FAVOURITE HIGH STREET BRAND AND WHY? I’m a sucker for Zara… their clothes seem to fit my 5’2 boy frame perfectly well and always have done- team these items up with my golden oldies and I’m ready for the day!

MOST TREASURED ACCESSORY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? My Amex….oh and Child!

HAS YOUR STYLE DIFFERED FROM PRE TO POST MOTHERHOOD? I think my style is the same, if maybe a little baggier.

Lulu, pre-Motherhood
Lulu, pre-Motherhood

And finally…

WHAT MESSAGE WILL YOU BE GIVING (or do you already) TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE? Having a daughter I will most certainly encourage confidence in all she does whether it’s body confidence or the confidence to wear whatever the f**k she wants! It’s all about freedom fun and funk!

QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS:

LEOPARD OR STRIPE? Leopard

SECOND HAND OR DOUBLE CLICK? Double click

HEELS OR FLATS? Heels

STATEMENT EARRINGS OR NECKLACE? Necklace

HOARDER OR CLEARER? Clearer

Lulu was a nanny for over 14 years… and having looked after just over 55 children over various childcare roles, she eventually became a mother to Betty. Make sure you’re following Lulu over on Instagram to keep up to date with her adventures with her daughter, her creative crafting, her home baking and general bonkers humour!

That Mummy Smile

Wednesday’s Wardrobe Presents….

WHO? Emma Paton aka Finlay Fox

TELL US ABOUT YOU? I’m a 37 year old mum of two and live in Stoke Newington, London with my husband, Liam. I have a kids and mums fashion & lifestyle blog/ instagram called Finlay Fox and used to be a fashion buyer at Boden. I love fashion, interiors (we are in the middle of some house renovations at the moment), food, wine and travel.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? A real mix! I love print and colour and have recently taken a liking to statement trousers. I have a lot of dresses and jumpsuits as they are so easy to wear but my standard mum uniform is often jeans or dungarees. I do love vintage clothes and have quite a few accessories I inherited from my Grandma (including an amazing Hermes scarf collection) but sadly don’t have the time to shop in vintage stores like I used to! I find it easy to comfort dress but always love to make more of an effort if I’m going to an event or press day as it makes me feel much more confident.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU? My Grandma definitely inspired me but also my sisters, friends, social media and Pinterest. I love living in London as you get so much inspiration from people around you. I love Erica Davies and The Frugality (not very original I know).

DESCRIBE THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR WARDROBE! I did recently clear it out but only half heartedly… when we move into the loft conversion next month I will do another cull as I do like to hoard things. I have been buying a few Spring pieces so it is starting to look a little fresher and more enticing (I’m 100% a summer girl!) and I can’t wait to hide the knitwear away.

tempImageForSave 15

Emma’s Wardrobe

WHAT’S YOUR MOST RECENT FASHION PURCHASE? I bought a few pieces from Warehouse recently including a gorgeous light blue floral floaty dress. I’m hoping to wear it smart with heels or relaxed over jeans and trainers. I love pieces that can really be worn in lots of ways as I get my cost per wear out of them!

IS THERE A TREND YOU’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW? I love florals so am pleased to see they aren’t going anywhere as I have so many in my wardrobe!

OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO PART WITH? I have a 1920’s style dropped waist beaded dress that I wore to my brother in laws wedding and then on the night before I got married, it’s probably 9 or 10 years old… but I’m sure I have some older things lurking in there!

ANY FASHION FAILS YOU’VE MADE? So many! Probably most of the slutty outfits I wore at uni for the themed nights they used to put on in the student union!

IS THERE A PARTICULAR COLOUR YOU’RE DRAWN TO? Red, I think it’s bold and brave and luckily I suit it quite well.

FAVOURITE HIGH STREET BRAND AND WHY? I have always loved Whistles but sadly my budget no longer stretches that far so Zara and Topshop are my go to High Street stores.

Emma's favourite item in her wardrobe is this gorgeous Galaxy print Whistles dress

Emma’s favourite item in her wardrobe is this gorgeous Galaxy print Whistles dress

MOST TREASURED ACCESSORY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Red lipstick

HAS YOUR STYLE DIFFERED FROM PRE TO POST MOTHERHOOD? Yes, I think I’m actually braver in my style now and wear more jumpsuits and dresses than I used to.

And finally…

WHAT MESSAGE WILL YOU BE GIVING (or do you already) TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE? That we all come in different shapes and sizes and that is normal and OK. If we all looked the same how boring would the world be? It’s about finding clothes and a style that suit you, your body and personality. Also show off what you love and embrace what you don’t.

Emma, pre-motherhood

QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS:

LEOPARD OR STRIPE? Both in equal measure

SECOND HAND OR DOUBLE CLICK? Double Click these days

HEELS OR FLATS? Flats

STATEMENT EARRINGS OR NECKLACE? Statement earrings

HOARDER OR CLEARER? Hoarder

Emma is one of my closest Instamums. She has a fantastic blog over at www.finlayfox.com and you can find her on Instagram @finlay_fox where you’ll see snippets of her beautiful children Finlay and Violet, style inspiration and gift guides. Oh and keep your eyes peeled on her most recent project…her house reno!

Wednesday’s Wardrobe Presents….

WHO? Lucy Johnson AKA Sweary Tattooed Mother Of 4.

TELL US ABOUT YOU? I am a stay at home mother of 4 little boys, I am a wife, we have 5 dogs and 4 Alpacas.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Dependent on my mood I go from Rock chick to Rainbow Brite but always draped in Skull jewellrey.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU? I always look at Kate Moss as a little bit of a style Icon on my ‘Rock Chick” days as she always looks amazing! When I am in one of my colourful moods its whatever takes my fancy, I always think I look like Eddy from Ab fab.

DESCRIBE THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR WARDROBE! Over filled, but I can’t part with any of it. LOTS OF SEQUINS.

tempImageForSave 5

Lucy’s wardrobe has nothing on Joseph’s Technicolour Dreamcoat!

WHAT’S YOUR MOST RECENT FASHION PURCHASE? A Rainbow fur jacket from Dolls Kill.

IS THERE A TREND YOU’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW? The new Burberry Rainbow collection. That cape DROOOOOL!

OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO PART WITH? A parker (one of the proper ones with the bright orange inside) I bought it from a charity shop in Camden and I love it!

ANY FASHION FAILS YOU’VE MADE? YES! When I thought I could pour glue& Glitter on jeans and it would look good! Helen (the welsh one) from Big Brother did it!

IS THERE A PARTICULAR COLOUR YOU’RE DRAWN TO? Anything rainbow!

This statement jacket is Lucy's favourite item in her Wardrobe.

tempImageForSave 7

This is a jacket that Lucy designed herself and had made by an amazing suit taylor in London called Sir Tom Baker. He makes suits for lots of Rock stars; the Killers, Robert Plant, The Prodigy etc. This is the ONLY woman’s piece he has ever commissioned but Lucy and him both LOVE IT. It was inspired by a jacket she originally saw on the YSL catwalk worn by the amazing Cara Delevingne & a jacket she saw Kate Moss in! It’s Lucy’s most treasured item of clothing in her wardrobe.

FAVOURITE HIGH STREET BRAND AND WHY? Hmmmm Zara, I don’t really buy much from highstreet shops but if I do i’d say Zara is my go to, they always have a great range of stuff, material is good& I never find it over priced (I love their Kimonos)

MOST TREASURED ACCESSORY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? My Alexander McQueen scarf.

HAS YOUR STYLE DIFFERED FROM PRE TO POST MOTHERHOOD? It did yes, I think i always loose my way style wise a little bit in late pregnancy& early motherhood.  I think thats pretty normal though, who wants to be thinking about style when you’ve got a beautiful baby to squeeze. I don’t have a certain style though its always all over the place but I definitely dressed more ‘Mum’ at the end of and after Pregnancy.

tempImageForSave 6

Lucy’s style pre-motherhood (on the right)

And finally…

WHAT MESSAGE WILL YOU BE GIVING (or do you already) TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE? The message I give my children is ‘Be exactly who you want to be and dress how you want to dress, don’t ever feel like you should follow suit, if you want to wear a shark outfit then you wear it!’ My 3rd son wears girls clothes all of the time, he wears a pink fluffy coat to school, glittery shoes& I let him because, well he wants to and he is happy, I think thats the most important thing, plus he owns his style, it will make him the person he is when he grows up!

QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS:

LEOPARD OR STRIPE? Leopard

SECOND HAND OR DOUBLE CLICK? Double click

HEELS OR FLATS? Flats

STATEMENT EARRINGS OR NECKLACE? Necklace

HOARDER OR CLEARER? Bit of both

You can find the lovely Lucy on Instagram @sweary_tatooed_mother_of_4 where there is an abundance of colour, plenty of sequin shots and a bunch of funny Insta stories oh and her INCREDIBLE house!! x

That Mummy Smile

Wednesday’s Wardrobe Presents….

WHO? Me… @that_mummy_smile

TELL US ABOUT YOU? I am a wife and mummy to two gorgeous boys. We live in Notting Hill, London and I am a blogger and Influencer. After studying Art and Design at UWE in Bristol, I landed my first job in Fashion Buying at Austin Reed in my early twenties, then progressing on to Laura Ashley and finally Topshop. I may have left the Fashion Industry behind in terms of career since becoming a Mother, however I do still love to keep my finger on the pulse when it comes to trends and style 😉

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? I like to think I make an effort! I know that when I’ve put some thought into how I present myself, my mood is lifted and it makes me feel good about myself. Those mornings when I just ‘can’t be bothered’ often result in me feeling dowdy for the whole day. I love any opportunity to dress up for an occasion…throw on some heels.. Over the years ‘comfort’ has crept right up to the top of the list of priorities. Years ago, I would suffer in the name of Fashion! Not so much now.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU? These days I feel hugely inspired by Style bloggers, because I spend so much time on social media! I’m inspired by fantastic mamas who are rocking it on Instagram.

DESCRIBE THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR WARDROBE! It’s a total miss-match of STUFF! Strictly, I share it with Tye, but my pieces have totally taken over and he now only keeps his 4 suits hanging in there! In all honesty, I’ve only really been hanging things in the last 6mths…before then, I chucked everything in draws. Having it hanging though is so much more pleasant to trawl through- and visually see what I have.

tempImageForSave

WHAT’S YOUR MOST RECENT FASHION PURCHASE? I bought a red Panther bum bag from Topshop online (you can find it HERE). It’s fab, although the belt attachment only just does up around my chunky waist! I’d prefer it to be longer, so It can fall onto my hips, but oh well! Bought it about 2 weeks ago and STILL haven’t used it!

IS THERE A TREND YOU’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW? Im really into Prints and Colour. I’m loving the abundance of YELLOW 🙂

OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO PART WITH? Oh gosh, where do I start? I’m not the best at parting with things, because I always think that the trends come back around, so I hold on to pretty much everything (much to my husbands annoyance!). I have a Maternity leopard print blouse, which I bought when I was pregnant with Harry 9years ago that I can’t get rid of. As well as about 10 coats from my Topshop days over 10yrs ago….I had a thing for coats!

ANY FASHION FAILS YOU’VE MADE? I wore a nude dress to my cousin’s wedding a few years ago, which I failed to try on before arriving at the hotel we were staying at for the night. I wore it with a thong (believe me, it was the last time I ever wore one of those!) and hadn’t realised how short the dress was. And the WIND…. say no more.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR COLOUR YOU’RE DRAWN TO? Ive got more adventurous with playing with colour over the years. I went through a phase a while back on buying most things in black or white, but I’ve realised I can actually pull off colour. Saying that, I’m not very good at wearing blue.

tempImageForSave

The most colourful thing in my wardrobe and probably my FAV item. This Velour jumpsuit is from On Jenu, a brand I discovered last year!

FAVOURITE HIGH STREET BRAND AND WHY? Zara. I never fail to find something in there…although I must remember to be realistic with sizes! It’s so affordable and I believe there is something for everyone.

MOST TREASURED ACCESSORY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? A good Lippy.

HAS YOUR STYLE DIFFERED FROM PRE TO POST MOTHERHOOD? My body shape has determined what my style is now post motherhood. It probably shouldn’t but It definitely has. I’m not as confident with how I look and feel in most, but I’m working on it. Pre-children, and being 2 sizes smaller, I felt as though I could get away with wearing just about anything and pull it off! It takes a lot more effort these days.

Pre-Motherhood, with friends in Studio Flat which was filled with rails of clothes!

Pre-Motherhood, with friends in Studio Flat which was filled with rails of clothes!

And finally…

WHAT MESSAGE WILL YOU BE GIVING (or do you already) TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE? Raising two boys, I don’t want and I try not to ever put emphasis on theirs or anyone else’s body shape. We never label people thin or fat. I believe that if my children are ultimately HAPPY, that positive energy oozes from them. I want them to grow up to be happy and fulfilled. Confidence comes from within.

QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS:

LEOPARD OR STRIPE? Leopard

SECOND HAND OR DOUBLE CLICK? Second Hand. I LOVE vintage and charity shop finds 😉

HEELS OR FLATS? Heels

STATEMENT EARRINGS OR NECKLACE? Earrings

HOARDER OR CLEARER? no brainer… HOARDER!!!
