Marks and Spencer recently celebrated the 25th Birthday of Percy Pig who I’m sure you know is the face of their iconic delicious sweets! The popular pig has firmly marked his territory in the confectionary aisles of M&S since 1992 and has since been joined by many other additions to the range. I was lucky enough to have been invited to Percy Pig’s birthday celebration last week- a very grown up three course meal deliciously prepared by the finest chef’s using ingredients found in Percy sweets!
From start to finish the evening provided a very sweet treat both to the eyes and the taste buds. The lavish dining table was adorned with the most beautiful pink array of peonies and roses. There was a sweetie bar set up with jars of all of the Percy Pig range on display and ready to be picked for your very own pick’n’mix bag. A large Percy Pig back drop, and some very giant balloons all in all a birthday party to be envious of…and that’s without touching on the goodie bags 😉
The night began with some delicious cocktails and canapes, followed by a three course sit down meal, with special guest Percy Pig himself! The food was yummy and plentiful, infused with flavours and ingredients that make up the Percy sweets. To accompany the meal were some deliciously selected wine’s to enhance all of the elements.
M&S sells over 300 million Percy Sweets each year, which equates to approximately 10 sweets every second! If you lined them up ear to ear, Percy becomes quite the globetrotter and will stretch all the way to Hawaii!
Here’s a little timeline to show you the extent of the current range;
In 2014, Percy takes a gap year. His trip takes him through India where he makes friends with a travelling tiger, all the way to China, and there meets a new panda pal. What better way to remember his travels than make some sweets in honour of his new friends?
