We love boarding an aeroplane for our holidays, but when it’s not your average hour’s flight, Stanley gets fidgety and there’s barely enough space for him to lay down- that’s where the BedBox comes into play. The JetKids BedBox was created by an entrepreneurial parenting duo who have experience in children’s products and saw a gap in the market for an in-flight children’s bed.
We had the pleasure of being sent a BedBox for us to trial during our flight to Turkey recently on our May half term holiday. While it is only a 4 hour flight, this was the longest the boys have ever done and we were also aware that our journey home was to be a night flight! The BedBox is both a suitcase AND a bed! It’s a ride-on that contains a handy lightweight mattress which, when assembled the correct way, turns into a platform for your 12mth to 4year old to sleep and stretch out on.
Stan decorated his with some stickers and LOVED taking charge of it when we arrived at the airport. He pulled it along by the strap and looked like a chuffed Cheshire Cat with his own personal hand-luggage! When we got onto the plane, we obviously had to store it in the overhead locker until we were in the air and the captain had turned off the seatbelt sign. Once we got it down, I assembled it effortlessly for Stanley as he was sat in the middle seat. For this journey he was only keen to use it without the mattress which was fine, as it meant he could have his legs elevated. When we landed in Antalya Airport, the BedBox then became a fun ride-on while the children waited patiently for us to find our luggage.
On our night flight home, the children were super tired so I was very much looking forward to setting up the bed for Stan. The cabin crew on this particular flight didn’t appear too thrilled with me wanting to assemble it. They questioned and queried it’s purpose, but eventually said we could use it. Stanley fell asleep, however yet again made a ‘fuss’ about using the mattress again (thanks matey).
While this product ticks a lot of boxes and definitely does what it says, in my opinion, like everything there is still room for improvements. Not ALL flights allow a product like this because it obstructs the foot-well, so it’s worth checking before you purchase. There is a list of airlines HERE who have approved its use. JetKids are working intensively hard to get more airlines on board. Each time the seatbelt sign goes on (turbulence etc), you MUST store the BedBox back in the overhead locker, which of course can be disruptive especially if the child is sleeping on it, however you have to adhere to all safety regulations. I would imagine this is perfect for a long haul flight because it would get used to the maximum potential.
The BedBox by JetKids is a great concept and made to the highest standard.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful two week, all-inclusive holiday to Turkey which we booked through First Choice. This was our first family package holiday we’ve ever had just the 4 of us, so it was to be a very special one. Not only for that reason but also because we had planned to see Tye’s dad, who we invited from his home in Istanbul to Antalya and have a long weekend at our hotel. It’s been an incredible 7 years since we last saw him, so this vacation meant so much to us all.
We booked to stay at the 5* resort in Antalya ‘Liberty Lara Hotel’. Having spent the weeks running up to it prepping, showing the boys the photo’s on the website and building all the excitement, we couldn’t WAIT to get there.
As always the holiday began as soon as we set off for the Airport!!! Our TUI flight was BRILLIANT: Three rows of seats and televisions on the back of each headrest…the boys were in their element! The whole aeroplane was filled with families and the atmosphere was buzzing with everyone’s spirits high for their half term break. Upon arrival we had a private taxi booked to transport us to the hotel. When we arrived at Liberty Lara, Stanley’s face was PRICELESS! It was like walking into some kind of palace, with magical lights, vast open space and champagne on arrival! This was only our first day/ our travel day and there was so much more to come!
First Choice Holiday’s have exclusivity of this hotel and it was brimming with families. The facilities were second to none. Outside was a generous sized children’s pool, a larger deeper pool, water slides, an adults only pool with jacuzzi, beautiful landscaped gardens, tennis courts, football pitch, children’s playground, 2x pool restaurants and bars, a pizza cabana, a waffle and ice-cream hut, a stunning outdoor amphitheatre, beach shop, kids club house, giant chess board and long footbridge covering the span of the pool area. Palm trees everywhere you look and pretty open grass banks provide a barrier between the resort and Antalya’s sandy Lara Beach. On the beach there are a large number of sun loungers under a canopy and the piece de resistance has to be the stunning Pavillion Pier heading directly out to sea and home to 8 pretty VIP cabanas for hire.
Inside of the Liberty Lara Hotel there are a number of restaurants catering for EVERYONE’s culinary preferences with tons of variety, including plenty of children’s food options. Cuisines on offer range from Turkish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, English, Middle Eastern and many more. There is a Spa with indoor swimming pool, hair salon, shops, adult nightclub and games room. The vast lobby is home to the reception and cashier desks as well as the 3 impressive dome glassed lifts with awesome views!
Being all-inclusive quite literally means you don’t need to spend a penny! Tye and I once went on an all-inclusive holiday when Harry was a toddler and we vowed to never turn back. We’ve always found that when you have children, it’s never a guarantee that they will finish their food at mealtimes and subsequently get peckish between meals, so having the additional options available at various times of the day to get snacks and drinks is essential! All meals, beverages, snacks, pool towels, room mini bar, the Hammam (traditional Turkish bath), sauna, fitness centre and daytime and evening entertainment is included. The beach cabanas are for hire so we did treat ourselves and hire one for the day just to experience the luxury!
We spent most days relaxing by the pools, soaking up the glorious Turkish weather, absorbing the atmosphere and enjoying the pool time activities hosted by the enthusiastic entertainment team. The children’s pool was a PERFECT size for little swimmers like Stanley. Having done a lot of holiday resort research before finding this hotel, it was apparent that ‘good sized’ kids pools were hard to come by, so this one served it’s purpose 100%. The depth of the water, the small play slides and the overall size provide a relaxing and safe environment for the youngest holiday makers. Stan LOVED this pool and by the end of the holiday had gained so much confidence in the water and was independently accessing it under our watch.
After long sun drenched days together, hot, sweaty and flagging, we had a routine of heading back up to our family room, giant inflatables under arms, for showers and lazy chill out time with the air-con for a couple of hours before dinner. Every night there was an entertainment itinerary offering something for everyone; live music, family shows, outdoor movie screenings and large themed parties. Plenty of FUN to enjoy!
Our experience at Liberty Lara was thoroughly enjoyable and the service we received from every member of staff was impeccable. There was nothing we could want for. One thing Tye and I would regularly comment on was that there was always someone around and available for you if ever you needed anything. Customer service was PARAMOUNT and we certainly felt it. It was visibly apparent how hard the staff were working around the clock, day in and day out, night in and night out- whether they were catering, housekeeping, maintenance, entertainment, front of house etc. We particularly loved seeing the head chef’s making themselves available at meal times, mingling with guests and likewise the senior hotel staff who would occasionally stroll around meeting and greeting. Each of us felt cared for and looked after, so much so that it has certainly set the standard going forward for our future family holidays.

Wednesday’s Wardrobe Presents….
TELL US ABOUT YOU? I’m a mum to 4 daughters, a midwife, author and wife to Simon Hooper
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? Pretty relaxed, I love nothing more than a pair of lose fitting jeans, a blouse and a good trainer. Always accessorised with lots of gold jewellery and a bright lip stick.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU? Instagram is my window into clothes and fashion. As a busty size 12/14 woman I love nothing more than seeing women of a similar shape to me wearing clothes. I find small brands and learn how to mix and match the high street too.
DESCRIBE THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR WARDROBE! It’s generally pretty organised. I’m about to transition into SS. I have a lot of wool or cashmere jumpers which need to be wrapped up and put away for the summer. My summer wardrobe is super colourful and lots of stripes and floral prints
WHAT’S YOUR MOST RECENT FASHION PURCHASE? I’ve just bought a lovely floral dress from h&m it looks great with a pair of converse or sandals so hope it’s versatile all summer
IS THERE A TREND YOU’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW? I’m not one for trends, I find my wardrobe transitions well from season to season mainly because I have an unhealthy obsession with grey jumpers (I have at least 10). I also love my m&s green Alex trench I bought 2 seasons ago but every time I whip it out I love it just as much as I did when I first bought it.
OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO PART WITH? My black leather Whistles jacket, I’ve had it now for almost 8 years and is still in great nick. I’ve worn it to weddings, festivals, I take it on holiday it’s just such a good jacket that works with everything
ANY FASHION FAILS YOU’VE MADE? Many! Skirt over jeans when I was 14 ala Bewitched, tee shirts over a long sleeve top? Skater over sized jeans with a key chain attached to my wallet! I could go on.
IS THERE A PARTICULAR COLOUR YOU’RE DRAWN TO? Pink, and shades of pink. I just love it. It flatters my skint tone, it makes me feel happy and I’m learning to wear it with red.
FAVOURITE HIGH STREET BRAND AND WHY? &other stories. It’s fun, a bit different than the other high street shops, well made but they change their stock quite quickly so you’re not in danger of turning up to a party in the same dress as someone else.
MOST TREASURED ACCESSORY YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? My gold vintage charm bracelet that belonged to my granny.
HAS YOUR STYLE DIFFERED FROM PRE TO POST MOTHERHOOD? I became a mum at 23 so my fashion was questionable at that point in my life any way. I’m now 10 years into motherhood and feel more confident about my styles, body shape and decisions. I guess your 20’s you’re still working it all out but now in my 30’s I think I’ve got it sorted.
WHAT MESSAGE WILL YOU BE GIVING (or do you already) TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE?
Dress for you and you only, feel 100% comfortable in your clothes including your underwear nothing is more uncomfortable than a badly fitted bra. Try not to compare your body shape to the magazines, a very small percentage of women look like those models. If you need a reality check go to a public swimming pool and then you’ll see real women and real bodies
QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS:
LEOPARD OR STRIPE? both
SECOND HAND OR DOUBLE CLICK? Double click
HEELS OR FLATS? flats
STATEMENT EARRINGS OR NECKLACE? Earrings
HOARDER OR CLEARER? Clearer!
