Last week I got to meet the lady behind the baby brand From Babies With Love. Cecilia Crossley’s work as a Chartered Accountant years ago saw her wanting to move more into the Charity sector, and it was when she became a Mother that this Social Enterprise was born. But this isn’t any baby brand.. every single penny (YES, 100%) of profit goes to Charities working with abandoned children and babies around the world.
Meeting Cecilia was wonderful. She believes wholeheartedly in the brand and the amazing things she is achieving. Her honesty and heartfelt speech captured everyone in the room. When I got to talking with her personally it was as if I’d known her for years. She’s such a warming person and you can feel every ounce of her compassion for the charity work she does and for all of those many children around the world that she is supporting and contributing to in some way.
‘Buying gorgeous clothes for a beautiful baby is one of life’s pleasures.
But too many babies in the world have no one to give them clothes, or anything else. So at From Babies with Love, we do things differently. Every penny of profit from our unique, ethically sourced designs goes to orphaned and abandoned children around the world. And in safe, happy places, vulnerable children can grow up in a loving family. We started this company to make a difference. And with every piece of clothing that you buy, you are too. Cecilia believes that every baby born wherever they are in the world, should have a fair start to life. From Babies With Love already support a number of babies and two nursery schools, across Africa, South Asia and Latin America.’
A recent collaboration with blogger and Instamum Susie J Verril, partner to Gold Medalist Greg Rutherford, on an ‘Elephant Family’ range has just been launched and I got to see the pieces at the Launch Event. This particular collection includes beautifully soft organic cotton baby grows, bibs, hats and muslins. The brand are hoping that this new collection will not only be loved by families around the world, but that it will also make a real difference to giving abandoned children a safe space to live and grow.
It is so easy for us to take for granted how blessed we are. The privileges we have and everything that we are able to provide to our own families. We are so fortunate to have warm homes, loving friends and family, education, healthcare, living in a developed first world country. When across the world there are babies and children abandoned every day, without families, without support and most of all, without LOVE.
Before having children myself, I went and did my own outreach work in Nairobi, Kenya for a short while, working with street children and a rehabilitation project. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever done and working in particular with children is so valid and life changing for everyone involved. If you want to have a read of the blog post that I wrote a couple of years ago on my trip to Kenya, then please click HERE.
Now, like me, that you have discovered this incredible brand From Babies With Love, then why would you ever want to shop elsewhere? There is no middle man, there are no ‘big shots’ making money from your purchases. You are simply giving a gift to not only the recipient, but also to children in the world who have nothing, or very little. And that is what matters the most. Buy something with LOVE.
