All of these lovely press days are making me want to go on holiday, not only that but the Matalan SS18 Press event made me want to move in! I got to view their new womenswear, childrenswear and the new Home collections too for next season.
First up, the colourful wonder of womenswear: plenty of embroidery details, spots, gingham, tassels, floral, suede, chiffon and lace. Feminine Bardot styles, smock tops, fluted sleeves and bright accents of red and yellow. All themes running through both fashion and accessories.
Childrenswear was bursting with colour and tons of fun and playful prints and patterns. I focused mainly on the boys wear because I am after all a boy mum. They’ve got a new twist on the popular camo print, by using varying shapes to mix it up a bit. There’s a wonderful map print and some great safari themed pieces as well as the faithful reoccurring stripes. Cute chinos and soft knits are things to look forward to.
Moving on to Home, the monochrome story was very strong with textures in abundance, patterned cushions and throws in black and white with rope effect accessories. A strong consistent botanical theme in the bedroom range with leaf printed bed linen, accents of purple and some impressive beaded chandeliers impressed! The dining range consists of striking tableware, bronze details and wicker detailing. The abundance of plants and greenery on display created a very organic and lush feel. Very pretty.
