Summer of 2016 saw me begin to paint again and create some Wreath Art.
Every summer that I spend in France, gets my creative juices flowing. Being surrounded by true rural beauty, the green of the grass, wild flowers, pretty wildlife and pure calm. So usually I’m sketching, while the kids are running around in the garden collecting bugs or jumping in the pool. But last summer, I decided to take my watercolour paints to France with me, and every night once the children were tucked up in bed, I started to paint. An opportunity like this can only really happen when Stanley isn’t ‘watching’ me, because inevitably he wants a turn with the paintbrush too!
I have quite an artistic background, doing Art for both GCSE and A’levels at school, then going off to do an Art Foundation Course at university in Bristol achieving a distinction. I LOVE being creative- whether it’s drawing, painting, making, doing, sewing, wearing etc. Being a full time mummy certainly restricts my arty opportunities because for one, you need TIME and that is hard to come by! Secondly, unless you want your toddler or insistent children lingering around you while you’re attempting to make something, save yourself the agony and wait until they’re in bed!
In the last few months, I’ve really enjoyed experimenting with my painting and producing ‘simple and effective’ art work. The feedback has been wonderful and having got involved in a handful of craft and Christmas fairs at the end of last year, the response has been nothing but positive.
I merely do it because I thoroughly enjoy it… It makes me happy… It’s my time… And I think they’re beautiful gifts. Who doesn’t love and appreciate something that is personalised and handmade?
Get in touch if you’d like a painting. They’re A4 in size, painted on quality watercolour paper and mounted. I can also design greeting cards and invitations for you at your request
