We were guaranteed a lovely weather day so naturally we had to visit the seaside! Our day out in Brighton was super. We totally went on a whim, but that added to the fun of it all. Both the boys slept all the way which was handy and we timed it so that we arrived in time for lunch- fish and chips on the seafront OF COURSE!
Despite the promise of a warmer day and sun, it definitely wasn’t as busy as we had expected. We parked the car in Hove, as it’s usually less congested, then took a stroll along the promenade towards the pier as we had made a promise with Harry that he could go in the arcade.
What is it with arcades and needing to spend a small fortune on those no-winning-money-grabbing machines?! Do all children have the same obsession? Is it the flashing, bright, colourful lights and annoyingly screeching sounds that is the attraction? I don’t get it. But luckily my husband has the patience and same enthusiasm as Harry! We OBVIOUSLY needed a comedy pic of us on the ‘head in the hole photoboard’. Harry was only too keen to take the pics!
After an hour and a half of fun fair action and an excitable 5yr old buzzing with energy, we decided to start our walk back along the beach towards Hove. The boys had a pot of prawns each from the Sea Haze beach shack, which Harry loved. He loves his seafood!
By this point the sun was slowly beginning to fade. Dusk began to set in and the sky looked dreamy. It had been quite a speedy day, but jam-packed all the same. The drive only takes 2 hours, so when you’re home it’s such a nice feeling to know how easy it really is to have a mini road trip to the coast and escape london familiarities once in a while.
