Stanley was asked by Zoggs to try out their new water Wings Vest during a morning swimming session, and what fun we had! Together with a few other parent bloggers, we got into our swimming costumes and enjoyed some one-on-one time with our toddlers in the pool.
Stan isn’t the most confident in the water, and granted he hasn’t had as much swim time as Harry did at his age. However he was happy to try out his new Zoggs trunks, goggles and Wings along with his little friends! He was soon keen to jump into the pool.
In the past Stan has worn armbands, which as most of us know can often get in the way and cause a barrier for them when trying to learn techniques. The wonderful thing about these Wings is that they naturally put the child into a good swimming position, where the arms aren’t at all restricted and they have the freedom and flexibility to swish the water- perfecting their swimming skills. They have just the right amount of buoyancy to keep them afloat, but comfortable and not at all like Michelin Man!
Where he lacks in confidence, the need to want to cling onto me provides him with comfort. Luckily for us there were a couple of professional swimming teachers on hand to help me to build his confidence as well as getting him to try and feel the wings for himself. After gradually loosening his grip, he went willingly with the instructor as she taught me some good tricks: trying to keep him at arms length so that he could experience the weight of the water. With a few fun Zoggs squirty toys, we played catch which he loved.
Since our swimming session, we’ve spent the summer holidays in France where Stan has been in and out of the water confidently and has subsequently gained a lot more in confidence. He continues to want to be in close proximity of me, but certainly isn’t as anxious and the wings have most definitely had a positive effect and he’s made such good development .
